Can You Get Me Some Food, Please?

AUDIO Gyakorolt szerkezetek: busy, lazy, getting hungry

Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack. He was a lazy boy.

One day, Jack was at home. He was in the living room. He was lying on the sofa. He was watching TV.

His daddy was in the living room, too. He was very busy. He was ironing the family’s clothes. He was ironing shirts, socks, caps, curtains and tablecloths. He was ironing and ironing. He never stopped for a moment.

His mother was at home, too. But she wasn’t in the house. She was in the garage. She was busy. She was fixing the car. It was an old car. It had a lot of problems. But Jack’s mom was a good mechanic and she loved fixing problems. She never stopped for a moment. The car often stopped, but she didn’t.

In the living room, Jack was getting hungry. But he didn’t want to stand up and go to the kitchen. “Daddy,” he asked his father, “can you get me some food, please? I am getting hungry.” “Sorry,” his dad replied, “I’m busy. I am ironing your shirt. The iron is hot. I can’t go to the kitchen now. Go and get some food yourself.” “Ok,” Jack said, “I’m not hungry.”

But he was getting really hungry. “Moooom,” he yelled (because he knew his mom was in the garage), “can you get me some food, please? I am getting hungry.” “Sorry,” his mother replied, “I’m busy. I’m fixing the car. The soldering iron is hot. I can’t go to the kitchen now. Go and get some food yourself.” “Ok,” Jack said, “I’m not hungry.”

“Granny,” Jack yelled, “can you get me some food, please? I am getting hungry.” His grandma didn’t say, “I’m busy.” She didn’t say, “Get it yourself.” She didn’t say anything. She didn’t say anything because she wasn’t at home. She was shopping in Tesco.

Oh no! Daddy was ironing, mommy was fixing the car, and grandma wasn’t at home. There wasn’t anybody to get Jack food. Jack died of hunger on the sofa. Poor Jack!

The End
