The Napkin of the Sun King

Once upon a time there was a king. He was the King of France. He was the Sun King.

The Sun King was having dinner in Versailles. He ate spaghetti, then picked up a napkin and used it. He ate chocolate, then picked up a napkin and used it. He drank Bordeaux, then picked up a napkin and used it.  Finally, he dropped the napkin to the floor.

Hundreds of years later a lady called Agnes, who collected napkins, picked up the King’s napkin in Versailles. The napkin was in very poor condition. Agnes fixed the napkin and put it on the table. Then she went to the kitchen to cook dinner.

While she was in the kitchen, the Sun King came back. He picked up the napkin from the table and used it. Then he put it back on the table and went back. Agnes came back from the kitchen and looked at the used napkin. “Oh, Jesus!” She cried. “Who has been using the napkin?” She fixed the napkin again. Then she put it in the safe.
